'Kan Cheong' Spider

'Kan cheong' spider aka Randy Spider, shoddy character, wanna-be yuppie, and funny thai boys are some of the characters that I have heard of for the past one week.

It's been one hell of a ride. Seriously. It was more joy than despair. More adventure than disappointments. More love than usual. Corrrrrny, I know, I know. Oh what the hell. Life's too short to be so serious. Now, do I really wanna talk about Randy Spider? Hahahahaha.....I had so much fun listening to my boss talking about Randy Spider.

B: Hey, L. Do you know you've got a new nickname?
L: What NICKNAME? *Sat up and slightly randy-ish.
B: 'Kan Cheong' Spider. Ha HA ha HA...
L: WHAT KAN CHEONG SPIDER?

L is cute. But not Wanna-be Yuppie who'd whore himself, lose his personality JUST to get what he wants. Pathetic. If you want to talk about biz, be straight forward. No pussyfooting, and sharing stories about your mom buying you condominiums, and I used to own this and that. Brat. I hate braggy brat. Seriously. If you have the substance, you really do not need to brag. We just do it and immerse ourselves with the success. Ha ha ha...

The other day I was chatting with my girlfriend and she complained...

G: How come all the men I've met are either married or attached? Or, GAY?!?
M: That's cos u need to lose weight, sweetie. Hahaha...Ok. Seriously. 7 out of 10 is married or attached. The other two is gay and remaining one is psychotic/mommy's boy, like chronic.
G: GOSH! I'm doomed.
M: No lah. Mommy's boy got mommy to support you.
G rolled her eyes!
M: C'mon, let's go shopping.

My BKK trip had been a lot of fun. It was quite adventurous - imagine funny thai boys and massage parlours - and I have to say that of the many times I had visited BKK, this is the only time I get to learn more than I had previously. Upcoming post...stay tune.

Francis Francis!

I am thrilled!

Yes, ask me why I am thrilled and I can talk to you the whole night about it. Ok, seriously. I am thrilled cos 1) we are selling
illy coffee; so, paul can stop patronising downstairs now 2) i've finally met the quintessential paul sung, and the amicable sam. Our meeting was odd, to say the least haha... 3) the shop is looking nicer each day 4) my trip is just around the corner, and im ecstatic (im hiding it pretty well, trust me) 5) sean ghazi has just released an album, and it is called Semalam

Ok, maybe not the last part. But he sounds pretty good and I love his version of "Belaian Jiwa".

The other other thing that I am thrilled is that I have finally found a coffee machine that is 1) not too expensive 2) fully manual. i repeat: FULLY MANUAL! 3) it is HOT as hell. like brad pitt on this month's Vanity Fair cover. 4) retro-modern design...sexy!

But, seriously. Which medieval dungu needs a FULLY MANUAL coffee machine when you can purchase a FULLY AUTOMATIC coffee machine that is sleek, sexy and makes damn good coffee? For a start, I used to work in Starbucks and I do know a bit of coffee and it's literature i.e. different type of roasts, how to make a good latte and cappuccino - it ain't easy esp. frothing the milk. Therefore, I always believe in getting a semi-automatic machine cos it is definitely more fun to work around with and i like retro-modernish looking stuff. Seriously.

... Cute name, isn't it?

I'm such a idealistic materialist. Sigh...

The Age of Innocence vs f*&^%morons

I had this conversation with my nephews last night...

Me: So. How was your holidays in Japan? (Kids these days damn lucky)

No reply. He looked tired and uninterested. Ok, different approach. After about 2 minutes, I asked again, "Did you guys have fun in Japan?"

Nephew01: Ok.

OK?! Japan was just OK? You have got to be kidding!

M: Ok? Japan is nice isn't it?

N01: Yeah but so tiring. Most of the time, we walked from one place to another place. Eat and walked and queue up. In the Disneyland, we walked and walked and walked and queued up and then walked.

M: Hehe...Ok, i got it. It was tiring.

N01: Yeah walk only until no more energy.

M: Did you guys take the bullet train?

Both: Yeah.

N01: It was very fast! Vooooooom and reached already.

N02: Yeah. Nice!

M: So. Did you guys learn how to speak Japanese?

Nephew #1 got excited at this question and quickly sat up right and think.

N01: Urm...

Nephew #2 quickly intervened, "Konichiwa! Konichiwa!" He continued until I said, "Toyota?"

They both burst out laughing.

N01: "I thought Toyota is a CAR?"

M: Mitsubishi? Suzuki? Sushi?

Both: No!! Hahahahaha.....

N01: They are not Japanese!

M: Sushi IS Japanese!

N01: No it is not. They dont speak English.

N02 continued chanting Konichiwa.

M: Watashiwa itchy-bawah desu neh.

Laughters were louder now from the both of them and the eldest one said, "Isn't itchy ....Hahahahaha". Rolling on the bed now and started scratching his bawah.

Sigh. The innocence of young kids. Don't you miss being young and ... innocent?

Speaking of innocence, I have got this thing that has been nagging me the whole day. It is about lies. The act of telling lies and why do people lie. I mean, yeah, we tell white lies and lie about certain things in life jus so we could get what we want or conceal what we do not want others to know, which is bad.

But lying about the whereabout you are and who you are with? BUT, for what? I think this friend of mine has got this thing with lying and is quite thrilled when we started questioning him (attention, attention), interogating him even. My theory is that he likes the attention by telling lies. Or, he is simply a compulsive liar that he doesn't even realise it. Dang, does he know it could damage his integrity AND credibility?

Do you lie to seek attention, too? I mean, for what? Please enlighten me, someone, please. And, attention seekers, I tak faham langsung lah.

It's gettin' personal...

There are a few personal issues that need to be addressed as soon as possible.

Here is a list of 'TO DO's' that I want to achieve. It is not a early new year resolution. It is personal goals that I want to attempt to achieve. Please feel free to join me if you are keen (esp. point #2) : -

  1. To be more carefree
  2. To start training for Marathon. Yes, I had previously participated in a few marathons and that was like, 2 years ago. I felt like crap not doing it for so loong and the reason is simply because I do not care to look for people to go with me. Any takers? Yes, yes??
  3. To start my Project Aquarium. I hope my upcoming trip to BKK can be fruitful
  4. To bulk up. Yup, so Paul can start calling me Bicep Ethan. Ha.
  5. To take up more projects esp. events cos I love decorating stuff. Yeah, like David Tutera...Tutora? Tora?
  6. To be more productive and resourceful at work and outside of work.
  7. To be more tolerant to my mom. Let her nag freely. Err...
  8. To be pick up a hobby besides whatever I am friggin doin' now. Tennis, anyone? Yoga...Accessories design...PIMP THE CPU! Haha...Johnny Bravo will not be very pleased.
  9. To regain my confidence...first, I need to achieve point #2.
  10. And, to believe in faith.

Let's get personal.

What a difference a day make...

I am in a jolly good mood today.

First of all, I went to the gym this morning and there she was, my favourite funky aunty with her "stylish" hair accessories. Her get up today reminded me a lot of that character from Lord of the Rings. Hm... But, seriously, she IS funky...and nice. Spotted her carrying a funky bag after class. I have grown to enjoy this class a lot. The people are friendly; imagine they greet each other as tho' they are neighbours. The instructor is always positive and quite funny. It's rather cosy.

I guess I needed some of that after I had recovered from stress-related sickness. That was what the doc said, which was partially true but I soon discovered it was too much tea, really. Speaking of doc, she found out that I am actually very fit cos my heart rate is like an athlete's. I can't be sick (doc, I faked it cos i wanna go shopping on a Saturday!). Ok, Seriously. She insisted that I take it easy and stop taking my 'Executive B' supplements. Granted. And, I am back and I am ready to kick some asses!

Anyways, so much took place recently. Dramas, good news, bad news...that is why I think I need to rear fish. I think it is fucking theraupeudic (shoosh, did i spell that right? i'm quite anal) cos I saw my friends little fishes the other day at her place. I think I need some good 'chi' also. Yeah, im quite into Feng Shui. Any experts here?

Oh, and and I finally changed my cellphone! Love my new 'toy'.

Orange Vanilla

Vanilla candle light birthday.
I set up all that to usher in ad's 17th Birthday. I love getting buzzed at our balcony (right after a heavy downpour hours earlier) while burning the vanilla-scented candle and catch up. More so with that special someone. And jazz.

Project Aquarium

I think I want to rear fishes.

Yeah, fishes. So that I can make steam fish for my partner. Ha ha ha... Not a very tasty joke. I shall go lunch and think about my latest project, Project Aquarium.

To be continued...

Fascinating

You think your Kancil could fit in all these? Think again ..

And the winner goes to ...

It was between the shark or the chickens but I thought the piglets are darn cute. But, poor little piggies. There are obviously on the way to the nearest Chinese restaurant where all the salivating Hongkies or Taiwanese waiting for their roasted piglets to be served.

No Music No Life

Everytime I stepped into the record store near where I work, I would oblige to purchase a CD. That's cos I'm nice and I love music.

So when I walked into the store, I was first greeted by the amicable store manager who recently joined gym (i will post that another time). We spoke about music and of cos, gym. There are lotsa new CDs and I found these gems (while still talking about gym)...

+ john legend, Once Again ... Follow up to his self-titled first album, he is back and sounding (and looking) sexier than before. I love this album. Very Marvin Gaye-ish, very soulful & very passionate.

+ robin thicke, The Evolution of Robin Thicke ... I first spotted Thicke (back then he was only known as Thicke) was on MTV. His first single from his first album, A Beautiful World, was very catchy, fun and crazy! And he certainly didn't look as suave as he is now cos he has (thankfully) chopped off his curly hair. His music style has matured, too. This album has got a lot more soul, and ooh, so sexy. Kinda remind me of Maxwell slash Justin T. Definitely one of the best this year.

+ stephane pompougnac, Hotel Costes 9... Another addition to his Hotel Costes series. After the predictable series #6, #7 & #8, he is back with a much better collection of songs that are more cohesive and fun. Play it if you like a bit of French music while sipping your champagne.

Positive Profession

Work is like super busy lately.

It is a good sign, really. Busy means lotsa business. Busy means PR time. Busy means short of staff (too). Short of staff means bad management. Errr...I can explain. My F-up staff resigned recently and when he pulled me to a corner of the store with a white envelope on the other hand, which I've identified it to be the store's property, I was sorta celebrating quietly inside.

Imagine fireworks at the background, Whitney singing 'Greatest Love of all', and ... wait. That's quite like an Olympic moment, no? Ok, you get my idea how much I want him to leave. He wanted me to advise him his period of notice. I'd like an immediate one, I told him. He was seemingly shocked and, sad. Too bad. Damage is done. I've had enough and I'd like to have a fresh new team for the shop with absolutely positive attitude.

I think it is so important to have positive attitude people to work for you cos it is something like a good PR for the company. I will give you a scenario. A positive attitude person attends to a sale. She remembers every details about the product, attentive and gentle. Customer is happy, and she tells her friends that she bought some products from shop ABC and said that, "You guys should visit it. They've got a lovely cafe with superb service too.

Imagine the crowd the next day. Ok, I sound like I am advertising.

So, did I hire any positive attitude people? Yes. Unfortunately, a lot of them could not work long term as the cite reasons like,

  • 'My mom doesn't like the idea of me working here cos I am missing my studies'. Right.
  • My girlfriend works cos she want to have more money when she is overseas'. And?
  • 'I am very tired. See, I've got Salonplas on both of my legs!' *showed me her pretty legs all plastered up with Salonplas. I tell ya, I've never seen so much of Salonplas stuck on a person's leg in my life! She beats my mother and my grandmother hands down. But, I was sympathetic and I let her go.
Young kids these days. I used to work for KFC, Starbucks and I had no problems. Ok, I think I do sound like my mother now. Anyways, it was all good. They (see above) were very hardworking bunch. Sporty, enthusiasistic and err quite positive.

Now, I am not sure if I want to hire that guy who used to work as a Massaeur ... for a Men's Spa that incl. UB*

This is my confession...

I am not being unfair.
It is how the situation forced me and made me think that way.

Overdramatic? Probably.
But, what if I throw the ball to the other side of the court?
You'd probably react the same way as I did.

It's human nature.

I can't explain how I feel or behave or react.
I do not want to but, I did.
I want to be in control of the situation.

Maybe because I am afraid of losing you.

Definitely. Not maybe.

Neither do I want to confront an ugly situation.
That got out of hand when I could have controlled it in the beginning.
I do not want you to apologize profusely.
Or, I wished that nothing had happened.
I hate it.

It is funny when you think what you are doing is fine.
What about my feelings?

It is much calmer now.
I need to sit and think clearly.
I do not want to say the wrong things.
For all the wrong reasons.

I just want to be truthful.

-----

Belief

Is there anyone who

Ever remembers changing their mind from
The paint on a sign?
Is there anyone who really recalls
Ever breaking rank at all
For something someone yelled real loud one time
Everyone believes
In how they think it ought to be
Everyone believes
And they're not going easily

Belief is a beautiful armor
But makes for the heaviest sword
Like punching under water
You never can hit who you're trying for
Some need the exhibition
And some have to know they tried

It's the chemical weapon
For the war that's raging on inside
Everyone believes
From emptiness to everything
Everyone believes
And no one's going quietly
We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this

If belief is what we're fighting for
What puts a hundred thousand children in the sand?
Belief can.
Belief can.
What puts the folded flag inside his mother's hand?
Belief can.
Belief can.
